Blade Runner 2049 Is the Name for the Blade Runner Sequel

Blade Runner 2049 Is the Name for the Blade Runner SequelA sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi cyberpunk masterpiece Blade Runner was on its way, and now it has a name: Blade Runner 2049. Warner Bros made the announcement on Thursday night, along with a photo of director Denis Villeneuve, producer Ridley Scott, returning actor Harrison Ford, and new cast member Ryan Gosling on the film’s sets. It’s the one above, yes.

The original was set in 2019 Los Angeles, which now that we enjoy the fruits of hindsight, isn’t probably going to be the case with the real world version of the city. Although Blade Runner is regarded as one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time now, that wasn’t always the case. It barely managed to cover its $28 million (roughly Rs. 26.8 crores) budget back in 1982, earning $32.8 million (roughly Rs. 31.4 crores) in total US domestic earnings.

The Villeneuve sequel, with Roger Deakins as cinematographer, comes from a script penned by Hampton Fancher (who also wrote the original) and Michael Green (co-creator on American Gods), and is based on a story by Ridley Scott and Fancher himself. Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, who has worked with Villeneuve on Sicario and Arrival, will provide score.
Apart from Ford and Gosling, it will also star the likes of Robin Wright (House of Cards), Jared Leto (Requiem for a Dream, Suicide Squad), Mackenzie Davis (The Martian, Halt and Catch Fire), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), and Ana de Armas (Hands of Stone) among others.

Blade Runner 2049 will arrive in theatres worldwide on October 6, 2017 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D formats.

Amazon Unveils New Echo Dot Speaker at Just $49.99

  • New Echo Dot launched at $49.99
  • Amazon has added new skills to Alexa for UK launch
  • First version of Echo Dot was launched at $90

Amazon announced on Wednesday that its voice-controlled speaker Echo will be released in UK and Germany this fall and a new white model will be launched in the US. Interestingly, Amazon didn’t stop with the announcements there and also launched a new version of Echo Dot, shaped like a hockey puck like its predecessor, at just $49.99 (roughly Rs. 3,350).

The first version of Echo Dot was launched by Amazon in March this year and was available for $90 (roughly Rs. 6,000). Just like the first version, the new Echo Dot is also controlled by voice controlled assistant Alexa. The new version allows also users to connect it to larger speakers.

Amazon has not detailed just why the new Echo Dot is cheaper. It in fact bears some improvements over its predecessor, including an improved speech processor for better voice recognition. Amazon has also introduced Echo Spatial Perception (ESP), which will ensure users with multiple Echo Dot devices will be served by the one closest to them.

As for multiple Echo Dots, Amazon is making them available in a six-pack (buy five, get 1 free) and a 12-pack (buy 10, get 2 free).

Regarding improvements to Alexa, Amazon said in its release, “Since Alexa runs in the cloud, she is always getting smarter-plus, it is simple and free for developers to build Alexa skills and integrate Alexa into their own products. In the US, there are already over 3,000 skills available for Alexa.”

The voice-controlled speakers are always ready to take commands from the users and can answer questions, read news, or even play music.

Amazon further announced that there will be thousands of Alexa skills available for UK customers at launch including skills from Spotify, Uber, Philips Hue, Hive, Just Eat, National Rail Enquiries, and more.

“Millions across the US have already fallen in love with Alexa. And, predictably, she’s even more likeable with a British accent,” Amazon’s Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos was quoted as saying in the release regarding the UK launch of the voice-controlled assistant.

Recently, Amazon.com also unveiled a cheaper, voice-assisted version of its Fire tablet, Fire HD 8, at at a price of $89 (roughly Rs. 6,000).

Remodel your home

There’s a reason why the saying “home sweet home” resonates so deeply. A home is a place of peace and solace, which is why homeowners take such pride in owning their own house. There are many benefits to homeownership, including a feeling of stability and security as a mortgage is paid down. Still, many home owners see the true benefits in doing a major home remodel. A remodeling project can greatly enhance the look of a home, and if a home loan can be refinanced at a reasonable interest rate, it can be a great deal financially.

What’s Involved in a Home Remodel?

A home remodel can range from a modest living room redo to a major home makeover. It all depends on the needs of the homeowner, their will to see the project through, and of course, their budget. There’s no doubt that taking on a home remodel is a major decision, but the key is in collaborating with reputable licensed contractors who can help you see your vision through while staying on budget.

The key in seeing through a remodel is to plan ahead and discuss all of the details with a contractor thoroughly. A design scheme can be created on paper or with a computer program to help visualize the remodel’s look and deal with any issues that come up along the way. That longed for claw foot tub may not actually fit in the bathroom unless a wall is taken out. Is it worth it to tear out a wall, or is there another solution for upgrading the bathroom that’s less expensive? These are the types of issues that can be looked at and discussed before any money is spent on workmen and materials. Planning ahead with a knowledgeable contractor can save you a lot in money and stress.

Different Rooms Involve Different Issues

Keep in mind when planning your remodel that some parts of the house (most notably the bathroom and the kitchen) will involve more work and possibly more than one contractor to get the work done. The plumbing involved in the bathroom and kitchen makes these jobs more complicated, so you may need a general contractor and a plumbing contractor. All of this is doable, but a bit more involved.

5 Tips to Update your Bedroom to Modern

The bedroom is your sanctuary—a place where you can rest, relax and sleep in peace. All the more reason why it needs to kept up with the times. An ideal bedroom needs to be soothing, clean, and welcoming. At the same time, there should be no compromise on the style aspect. So, how do you get all these to flow along harmoniously? It is not as difficult as it appears to be. Here’s how.

image

Primp Up the Headboard

The headboard of the bed is perhaps the most neglected when it comes to upgrading a bedroom. Most people look at all other items of furniture and accessories in the room but fail to notice the possibilities that the headboard holds. One way of taking your bed to the next level is to get a padded headboard. Just as you would see in luxurious hotels and boutique apartments or on the glossy pages of interior decoration magazines. Try this if you are aiming for sophistication.

Put Up Some Wallpaper

This is ‘the’ trend in bedroom décor today. Wallpapering an accent wall can drastically up the aesthetic value of a bedroom. Choose wallpaper that is in keeping with the theme and colour scheme of the room. Don’t make it too loud as soothing is what you should be aiming for in a bedroom.

Add a Rug

Just a single item of furnishing—a stunning rug, can elevate an ordinary bedroom to an elegant one. It doesn’t matter what type of flooring you have, you simply cannot go wrong with a rug. It adds character and personality to the room not to mention helping keep your feet warm during cold weather spells.

Jazz Up the Wardrobe

Your bedroom wardrobe design is definitely high on the functionality aspect. But what about the glamour quotient? Don’t fret, all is not lost. You can still work wonders by tweaking the wardrobe designs for bedroom use. Putting up mirrors on the doors of the wardrobe, substituting the handles and knobs with something funky, and adding some lighting inside the wardrobe are some ideas you can use.  If it’s a TV cabinet wardrobe design that exists in your room, these options can be used there too.

Personalize the Space

Your bedroom is your personal space, so mark it yours with some great family photographs blown up and tacked to the wall. Try experimenting with a mix of black and white as well as colourful memories. Photographs can speak a thousand words, so make use of this and use your personal shots as artwork.  Put up a couple of wall shelves and fill them with memorable souvenirs from places you have visited and achievements of your children.

These are but a few ways in which you can upgrade your bedroom in a jiffy. There are many more ways to go about it if you have deep pockets and enough time to spare on the details. Just let your imagination run wild and you will be surprised at what you come up with!

What To Consider Before Remodeling Your Home

What To Consider Before Remodeling Your Home

It does not matter whether you have owned a home for just a few months or for many years. Every homeowner can benefit from a home remodeling project. It might be something as simple as wanting to change the way your fireplace surroundings look or giving your home a completely different look. If you want to spruce up your home, consider remodeling your entire house.

Before you can get started

You would need to remember that giving your home a complete makeover or an overhaul can itself give you nightmares in case you do not get it done properly. Set aside some budget for this project since it can help you decide which parts of your house you would like to get remodeled. However, how would you know whether you have enough money for this project? Put together a list of all the parts of your house you want to give an overhaul and also get an estimate from some of the best contractors. Begin by checking the websites of contractors in your area. A good home remodeler such as GGR home remodeling can, in fact, make all your dreams come true.

1

Ask your friends

Ask your co-workers and friends as to which company they would recommend. When searching for a remodeler, make sure you find out as to how much experience they have in their field of work and check out their expertise. Do they specialize only in remodeling projects or do they also provide other services? How can you find out whether the company is a good one or not? You can determine how good they are at their work by looking at the testimonials on their website and also by reading reviews on them on the internet. Get references from the company itself if you can. This will go to show how experienced they really are. Also, make sure you ask them for the portfolios of their past projects. It will give you a rough idea of the work they have done before.

Get quality results within your budget

A good remodeling contractor will have many references to share with you. In fact, he or she will be ready to consider your budget and help you get quality results within the same. Work with a trustworthy company that provides home remodeling in San Diego CAservices. If you are not sure what you want, work with your contractor who can guide you. Not only will he or she be able to give you an insight into the technical aspects of remodeling but also experience based knowledge that no one else can possibly give you. Do you want to get some parts of your home repaired? You could get that done too. Look at the catalog of the company to get an idea of the variegated home remodeling styles or designs they have. Remember that changing the way your bathroom and kitchen look will definitely change the way people perceive your house. In fact, they would increase the resale value of your house at the end of the day.

Efforts to Help Homeowners Fail Their Troubled Mortgages

Home Foreclosure SignThe number of delinquent mortgages continues to fall, but the foreclosure crisis is still taking its toll on hundreds of thousands of borrowers.

Of the approximately 952,000 borrowers who are 90 or more days past due on their monthly payments, but not yet in foreclosure, 62 percent have already been through some form of home retention program, according to Black Knight Financial Services. They are, it seems, beyond help. Home retention programs were established by lenders and the government to work with borrowers to enable them to keep their homes.

“The percentages do look significant,” said Ben Graboske, senior vice president of Black Knight’s data and analytics unit. He pointed to trends in the government’s modification program, which has given borrowers less relief of late.

In 2010, homeowners on average could have received a $530 monthly payment reduction. That has dropped to the $450 range today. Graboske said that it is a major reason you are not seeing better performance for these homeowners today.

Banks are also getting more aggressive in pushing delinquent loans through the foreclosure process, rather than offering more modifications. As home prices rise and demand surges, banks can sell the homes more easily in today’s market than they could during the height of the crisis. Retention actions are down 42 percent over past two years, but of the new modifications or payment plans, 70 percent have already been through one or even more modifications that failed, according to BKFS.

Banks are also favoring short sales more, rather than taking the home to final foreclosure and selling it. A short sale is when the bank allows the home to be sold for less than the value of the mortgage.

“The ongoing shift away from [final foreclosure] sales is a driver of improving home prices since bank-owned properties typically sell at a larger discount than short sales,” noted a new report from CoreLogic (CLGX). Distressed homes accounted for 12 percent of March home sales, according to the report, down from 39 percent at the peak of the foreclosure crisis.

The numbers still vary dramatically place to place. Ironically, Washington, D.C., where the federal loan modification program was born, led the nation with 67 percent of its seriously delinquent inventory having gone through some sort of home retention activity. Maryland, Georgia, Texas and Connecticut followed with each seeing 66 percent of their 90-plus-day delinquent inventory involved in a home retention action.

The government’s Home Affordable Modification Program, introduced in 2009 and recently extended, has offered just more than 1.8 million loan modifications to date. Banks and mortgage servicers have also done independent loan modifications, including millions of dollars in principal reduction and principal forgiveness.

Although the number of both delinquent loans and those in active foreclosure is down dramatically, they are still two and three times their precrisis norms, respectively, with 28 percent of the remaining foreclosure inventory located in just three states: Florida, New York and New Jersey, according to BKFS.

Finding a perfect plumber

One of the most chaotic things to do in this busy life is to brood too much to find a plumber, and water just can’t wait, if the water is tapping out, you have no option but to fix it immediately! We intend to take you through a complete plumber hiring experience and avoid common mistakes.

plumber

First let’s look at five popular mistakes that people make while finding a plumber.

  1. Hiring a plumber based on price and that is foolish. A better plumber may charge a little more, but will save you from a lot of hassles later on.
  2. Thinking that all the plumbers can do any work. Absolutely not! While some are adroit at fixing everything, others may not have expertise in taking care of complex plumbing work.
  3. Hiring a plumber that doesn’t have right tools. In India, sadly people tend to bring just anyone to do plumbing work, thinking little about his/her suitability for the job. Look for the tools that they use. Better plumbers will make enough money to buy themselves tools that make their job easier.
  4. Hiring without asking them enough questions is a big mistake that people make, ask them questions, as many as you have, and let them answer them, if they aren’t interested in answering your questions, then will they be really interested in fixing your plumbing woes? – Think about it.
  5. Not asking for references – Go for it, ask them questions pertaining to it, as much as you can, ask for folks whom they worked with, or undertook any assignments for them? If they didn’t, then probably they don’t fit the bill, and it’s better to look out for someone else.

We agree with you that generally local plumbers are abrasive and there wouldn’t be time for you to look into every small aspect of hiring a professional, moreover we didn’t mention background verification – which matters a lot. However it is practically an impossible measure for someone working hard to earn livelihood in a fast city lifestyle.

So here are two key things you can use in addition to avoiding the 5 mistakes to choose the right plumber

  1. Experience: More experience is always better, between a new and experience professional, always go for latter.
  1. Warranty: You would like a guarantee on appliance, so why not on plumbing? Someone who is damn sure about what he/she does will never shy away from redoing it if needed.

I agree that it is a daunting task to keep all in this in mind, but fortunately, with advent of new technology, there are lots of solutions, one of them is professional apps that help you find the best plumber. One of the very popular apps for professional home cleaning servicesis UrbanClap. It has a robust background check program, and generally gets you professionals that convincingly sail through all seven points. Moreover the rates are reasonable and ratings are very favorable, there are many people who have used the app and can vouch for their services, one great advantage of using the app is that it acts as a zero cost interface, which lets professionals to come up with most competitive rates, as there is no post service rate adjustment.

There are number of other apps in android marketplace too, but they are marred with flawed UI, unprofessionalism, and disastrous customer service, there are many companies that use this app to get professional plumbers, and it takes its reputation very seriously therefore there is a swift response to any glitch or concern.

In nutshell we believe that you might want to give UrbanClap India a shot while trying our tips to find which one gives you a better match, but in any case, you will end up in getting better plumbers than you are getting now.
